چکیده

Magnesium alloy AZ91D is used extensively in the automotive industry because of its high strength-to-weight ratio. Typically, components produced using are required to have good surface finish and contribute productivity but require long cutting times. Cryogenic cooling an environmentally friendly technology which has been proven improve tool life finish. This paper presents investigation on effects dry cryogenic conditions at a speed regime for milling magnesium alloy. study focused high-speed due chips being highly combustible effective means decreasing temperature zone was great concern. The machining experiment carried out uncoated carbide end utilizing full factorial design (L16) with speeds 900 m/min 1300 m/min, feed rate 0.02 mm/tooth 0.05 mm/tooth, axial depth cut 0.2 mm 0.3 mm, radial 10 40 mm. For machining, longest flank wear (VBmax) 0.21 30 min, obtained Using this condition, mirror-like 0.106 µm produced. under condition VBmax maximum 1864 min achieved Under lower 0.091 obtained. It can be concluded that application liquid nitrogen (LN2) very enhancing obtaining better-machined surface, especially m/min. A longer high-quality machined parts will significantly cost savings related industry.

Influence of Milling Conditions on the Surface Quality in High-Speed Milling of Titanium Alloy

The study was focused on the machined surface quality of titanium alloy under different milling conditions, including milling speed, tool rake angle and cooling method. The surface quality was investigated in terms of residual stress and surface roughness. The results show that the compressive residual stresses are generated on the machined surface under all milling conditions. The compressive ...

Mean Flank Temperature Measurement in High Speed Dry Cutting of Magnesium Alloy

In high speed cutting, the mean flank temperature is not likely to be less than that on the rake face, that is, the cutting temperature, as the undeformed chip thickness is very thin and of the same order of cutting edge radius. To measure the flank mean temperature, it is critically important to mount the artificial thermocouple properly in the workpiece. A new thermocouple mounting arrangemen...

Process Mechanics and Surface Integrity Induced by Dry and Cryogenic Machining of AZ31B-O Magnesium Alloy

The corrosion resistance of magnesium alloys depends mainly on its surface integrity. Previous experimental studies have shown that machining can induces small (nano-scale) grain size, compressive residual stresses and basal plane crystallographic texture, which significantly improve the corrosion resistance of magnesium alloy. These studies have focused on the positive effects of cryogenic coo...
